Sarah Valor has spent nearly two decades inspiring people to invest in small businesses and nonprofits, leading the charge for good food, accessible healthcare, literary arts, and education. Prior to Civic News Company, she led the regional fundraising program and principal giving at FoodCorps, working to push food justice and educational equity forward across the country. She currently serves on the board of the Bay Area Book Festival, championing literary arts and public access to storytelling.
A UC Berkeley grad, Sarah studied abroad in Barcelona and spent summers at Middlebury College studying English literature. Since then, she and her family — ever ready for an adventure — have traveled to a dozen countries and spent a year living in Catalonia, Italy, and Germany.
Outside of work, she’s building a home with her husband and son, enjoys long walks in the woods, and hangs with their four-legged family member, Gwin, who thinks every hike is her idea.
