Kang-Xing Jin held product, engineering, and business leadership roles at Meta during a 17-year period of significant technological and societal change. He was one of the first 30 users of Facebook and, after graduating with a degree in computer science from Harvard in 2006, joined the company as an engineer on the News Feed team. He managed the Ads engineering team from 2007 through the IPO in 2012 and later was a VP with responsibility for many of Facebook’s products, including Facebook Groups. In 2018, he shifted his professional focus to social impact.
As Meta’s Head of Health, his team helped governments and public health organizations make use of Meta’s digital platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) to improve access to information, support, and services. In this role, Kang-Xing led Meta’s global COVID response. He left Meta in 2023 and continues to advise organizations in the social impact sector; in addition to being a board member of Civic News Company, he is on the advisory board for the Stanford Center for Digital Health.
